She, in her stylish gloves and beret and he, with his slick hair and wool suit are advertising Handmacher suits. Watch any old movie, and you will see women wearing suits. This 1951 ad came from a similar fashion magazine popular in the mid-century: Mademoiselle. Here they are advertising their spring suits for the coming year of 1951. They were made with fabrics in gaberdine or flannel priced at $50 to $70. To learn where in her town to buy these suits, customers were asked to write a letter to inquire.
