I have one final sweater look from 1957 to share. This one is a Bernhard Altmann cashmere. The color is seafoam opal. Like the others, it has a collared neckline, 3/4 length sleeves, and a ribbed waistline. It is worn with a pencil skirt and a bracelet.
Seafoam, opal of the sea in imported cashmere also power blue, lemon, blonde, white, rosewood about twenty-eight dollars.

The skirt was also from Bernhard Altmann. It was made with doeskin flannel and sold for $18. As is typical with ads such as these, a list of stores where the outfit can be purchased is provided.
Bonwit Teller, New York
Burdine’s, Florida
Julius Garfinkel, Washington D.C.
Lewin’s, Wichita
Meier & Frank, Portland
B. Siegel, Detroit
Jon Wanamaker, Philadelphia
Hold Renfrew, Canada
The ad appeared in the January 1957 edition of Vogue magazine. The ads from Bernhard Altmann stood out from the crowd even among its fellow upscale competitors.
Here’s another ad from Bernhard Altmann. This one is also from 1957. It is found in the pages of the April edition of Harper’s Bazaar.

Here is a link to a previous post that tells the fascinating story behind the Bernhard Altmann brand.
