Yesterday we looked at how Health-tex used a children’s book illustrator to promote their children’s clothing brand. Today the theme is similar. Here are two ads for Kate Greenaway’s children’s clothing label that use cute animal illustrations to accompany their fashion illustrations. This ad came from the December 1963 edition of McCalls magazine.

It would be interesting to see this 2 piece dress in person. They call the red pinafore a Popover Coat that goes on top of a white empire waist dress.

This ad with a well-dressed toad appeared a few months earlier in the September 1963 edition of Good Housekeeping.

My Kate Greenaway dress had Mr. Toad hopping. He follows the little shadows in my cotton gingham plaid from school to parties and home again.

Vintage Kate Greenaway dresses can be found in vintage resell shops today. The classic style and quality construction make them a fun choice for little girls in 2022. Here are a few that survived 50+ years.
