In this February 1955 Good Housekeeping article, music editor George Marak reports that there is an upcoming movie about Big Band star Benny Goodman. Benny was popular in the 1930’s and 1940’s. By 1955, his talents were less-appreciated.
Today Benny is still the finest technical master of his instrument, but what he plays is often lost in second-rate surroundings or surroundings that do not compliment his style.
The author points out that the film biography about big band star Glenn Miller released the previous year was a big success. However, Glenn Miller died in the war. Benny Goodman was still alive and was only 45 years old in 1955.

The movie was released the following year and starred Steve Allen and Donna Reed. I attempted to find the movie to perhaps stream to learn more about Benny Goodman with no luck. It is, however available on DVD. No word on how successful the movie was. I do remember watching the Glen Miller movie starring Jimmy Stewart in recent years. It was very good an is available to stream.
