1964 – 1,095 Meals to Make

Why is this newlywed smiling?

West Bend Pan Ad – 1095 Meals and Loving It – 1964 Bride and Home Magazine

This sad ad for West Bend pans appeared in the June 1964 edition of Bride and Home magazine. The magazine was filled with wonder for a bride-to-be. Happy things like wedding dresses, honeymoon ideas, and decorating tips. And then there was this one placed towards the back of the magazine. A depressing commentary on a typical day for a mid-century women. Maybe she should stay single.

Imagine me–a brand-new bride–with 1,095 meals to make this year…and loving it!

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
