1963 Tele-Shopping

A mid-century method to get stuff done.

Shop by phone ad for Bell Telephone – October 1963 Good Housekeeping

Take a look at this 1963 Bell Telephone System ad. It reminds Good Housekeeping readers that they can use the phone before they shop. This fun black and white ad shows a hectic big city street scene filled with cars that will be sought-after classics 60 years later.

I wonder if they had any idea how telephone shopping would really work in the 21st century. Perhaps not.

My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
