1960 – Hubert De Givenchy

Meet the Iconic mid-century fashion designer

Glamour magazine made a visit to Paris in 1960 to interview popular fashion designer Hubert De Givenchy. There they learned about Givenchy’s process to design the perfect wardrobe for any woman.

The dress must be adapted to the woman, not the woman to the dress.

The article was published in Glamour’s July edition. It provided some fabulous sketches for some imaginary clients, and gave insight into some of his fashionable American clients.

Givenchy’s American clients include Jane Fonda, Jackie Kennedy, Maria Cooper, and Audrey Hepburn

About Janet

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
