1957 – Patina Mom and Baby

This magazine cover shows its age.

Let’s continue our look at mid-century moms with this stained and worn magazine cover from the March 1957 issue of Woman’s Day magazine. True, it features a picture of an adorable baby and his mom, but the part I like best about this picture is the patina. The coffee cup ring and accompanying imperfections give it character. The abused magazine cover has lasted 65 years. The same is hopefully true for the baby and mom who are now 65 years older. Age is beautiful.

Here’s a look at what the Women’s Day moms from 1957 would have read.

About Janet

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
