Vintage Pink and Gold Appliances from 1950s

1950s colorful appliance trends including pink and gold for kitchen and laundry.

Pink appliances for your home? Yes please. Here are two ads that appeared in the April 1959 edition of Good Housekeeping magazine. Both General Electric and Hot Point made the bold move to manufacturer pink appliances for the mid-century home. This was an obvious trend that was an escape from the traditional white appliances seen both before and since. If you need a new washer and dryer, why not make it a fun color? Of course, it wouldn’t take long for the look to become dated. Recall the avocado appliances from the late 1960’s and 1970’s which was lumped together with shag carpets and ugly wallpaper.

A quick look through my collection of mid-century magazines revealed another popular color from 1959. Gold. Here’s one from the October 1959 edition of Good Housekeeping for Whirlpool.
