This mid-century movie ad appeared in the August 1951 edition of McCalls magazine. As movie posters go–it gets your attention. The movie stared Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell, the so called “Hottest Combination to Ever Hit the Screen.” It also stared Vincent Price, Tim Holt, and Raymond Burr.

1950’s was the period for film-noir and the femme fatale. This classic film fit the mold perfectly with gangsters, sex-appeal, and an artful black and white setting.

A deported gangster’s plan to re-enter the USA involves skulduggery at a Mexican resort, and gambler Dan Milner is caught in the middle.
