Vintage 1952: Ad Featuring Smiling Couple

A 1952 ad for Ipana toothpaste features a smiling couple, promoting clean teeth and a classic mid-century love theme.

To continue our 28 Days of Love theme, here is another charming couple featured in a mid-century ad. What is the ad for? You guessed it. Their sparkling teeth are a give away. The ad is for toothpaste. The product was called Ipana. This once popular brand of course is now extinct, but it was a necessary grocery item in the mid-century.

The ad campaign warned against the “Tell-Tale Mouth”

Ipana keeps your whole mouth cleaner, sweeter, sparkling

The ad appeared in the March 1952 edition of Today’s Woman magazine. It is a bit of a departure from the other postings. Many of the other mid-century magazine couples were illustrated instead of photographed. This couple seemed to do the trick, however to represent the classic look of a 1950’s couple in love.
