1963 Cat Eye

1963 ad for Max Factor.

Ad from 1963 promoting Max Factor’s line of compacts.  This is an example of why it is so fun to collect mid-century women’s magazines. Her hair/makeup is so 60’s, yet her fresh, youthful look is timeless. Isn’t it interesting how they dramatized the advertised “sunlit look” by adding shadow to her face from the lines of the wicker basket? (September 1963 Good Housekeeping).

About Janet

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
