Here’s a Bell Telephone ad promoting their extension phones with the caption, “Picture you with a kitchen extension phone”. In 1963 when the ad was published, phones were purchased from the telephone company and not the local big box store. This was big business for Ma Bell and an extra cost for a family. Having multiple phones in the home was a treat for the 1960’s family.
