1959 – Egg and Cheese Recipes

More recipes from grandma's kitchen

From the March 1959 edition of Woman’s Day magazine, here are some recipes that combine eggs and cheese. Featured are omelets, mac and cheese, and baked cheese fondue. Cheddar, cream, cottage, and American cheeses all made the cut for these recipes.

For some reason, they didn’t offer a recipe for the beautiful cheesecake shown in the picture. Instead, they only made reference to the fact that is was made with cream cheese. No worries. Cheesecake recipes are a dime a dozen, but ya don’t see many recipes for Timbales, mac & cheese & eggs, or grilled cheese French toast. They seemed to use American cheese a lot in these recipes. I’m not much of a fan, but my husband uses it to make a mean grilled cheese. Here’s an interesting article that I found when I googled American Cheese.
