1952 Social Security Swimsuits

A fun mid-century ad to help us welcome summer

Now that summer is officially here, let’s welcome it with this fun ad for Sea Nymph Glamour Swimsuits. It stands out as one of my favorite ads from my mid-century magazine collection. As is usually the case, it is the fun illustration that steals my heart. Perhaps that, and the cute copy that was written to let the reader and potential buyer know that the suit was designed with “social security” to keep the top up and bottom down.

Here’s to summer and the opportunity to return to normal.

About Janet

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
