There’s a reason we love mid-century advertising. It’s the illustrations. Or, is it the faces in the illustrations? Whatever the reasons, the kitschy feel of this 1946 ad is worth a look 75 years later. The unknown illustrator captures the reader’s attention with vibrant colors and the neat appearance of the smiling couple.
The ad is for Kroehler’s Luxury Lounge furniture and boasts of its spring system thanks to scientific wartime research. It was published in the May 1946 issue of Woman’s Home Companion.
