One of the reasons I enjoy vintage magazines is the wonderful illustrations. Mid-century women’s magazines always included short stories that were illustrated by an assortment of talented artists. Note the subtle details in this illustration by Robert Harris that set the scene for the story. It accompanied a nine page piece titled “Some People Meet Too Soon” by Thomas Bell from the September 1952 issue of McCalls magazine.
