1952 When it Rains it Pours

Classic 1952 illustration for Morton Salt.

This ad campaign for Morton Salt is an example of classic Americana. The full page ad appeared in the October 1952 edition of Everywoman’s magazine with an assortment of other food-related ads. The illustration of the smiling girl in the yellow calico dress carrying an over-sized umbrella and an open container of Morton salt has changed through the decades, but the tagline is still the same, “When it rains it pours”.

About Janet

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
