Why 1960s Cadillac Ads Still Captivate Us

Charming Cadillac ad complete with rain, roadside flowers, and a waiting woman in a classic car.

Here is a beautifully styled Cadillac ad that appeared in Vogue magazine. The ad shows a scene with a woman waiting inside a silver 1964 Cadillac while her date buys flowers in the rain. Everything in the ad is classic. The women in the car, the umbrella, the man in the suit, the wet city street, the flower stand, and of course the car.   What is it about an ad such as this that appeals to us 50 years later?

About Janet

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
