Timeless ad for Wallace Sterling silverware from the pages of the September 1957 issue of Mademoiselle magazine.  At the time, Mademoiselle was more than a fashion magazine. Its tagline, “The magazine for smart young women” helps us understand that its target audience was unmarried women. Silverware was of high importance for a soon-to-be bride. This ad is one of my favorites.

“When you eat with Wallace every day, it needs no more than soap and water care. It wears forever. Its lustre grows as our pride in it will. In use: Discovery, $37.50.

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
