If you were a mid-century advertiser tasked with advertising soap, what would you do to make an interesting ad? Use love. Here is an ad for a soap brand called Cashmere Bouquet Soap. It shows a happy 1950s couple who are newly engaged.

This sweet illustration showing a woman admiring her engagement ring was published in the March 1951 edition of McCalls magazine.

The half page ad was published early in the 1950’s when illustrations were often used in advertising.

Here are two more illustrations from Cashmere Bouquet Soap ads. Note how the illustrator uses the same color scheme and flowers to enhance the image.
This one is also from McCalls.

And here is one more which was also published in McCalls, a month later.

Cashmere Bouquet also sold cosmetics. Here is a couple selling their brand of lipstick.
