Good Housekeeping's April 1963 article highlights children's Easter fashion, featuring adorable, though impractical, outfits for girls and boys.

Children on A Fashion Spree – Good Housekeeping April 1963

The baby boomer years of 1946 to 1964 were a time of significant growth in the United States. Babies were born in great numbers during this time. It makes sense that mid-century women’s magazines would focus on children. This was true for Good Housekeeping in the spring of 1963. They showed kids Easter fashions in their article titled, “Children on a Fashion Spree”.

This 9 page article focused on dress clothes for little girls and boys. The girls’ outfits are complete with hats and gloves. The boys’ attire includes short pants and bow ties.

The editors designed the photo shoot to be pleasing to the eye focusing on plaids, neutrals, and yellow. The looks deserve an eye-roll by those of us living in the 21st century. I will hand it to them. The kids look adorable. But are the gloves, hats and bow ties practical for kindergartners?

Prices of the looks pictured ranged from $3 to $15 and came in sizes 3 to 6x. Good Housekeeping detailed the fabric content and told readers where the looks could be purchased. For further reading, I have included the full article for download below.
