1964 – Brazilian Coffee

How to make him smile in the morning

Here’s a coffee drinker from a bit later in the mid-century. It comes from the June 1964 issue of Bride & Home magazine.

How to make your husband smile in the morning?

The ad gives the newlywed a list of vomit-inducing answers to this question such as “Look deep into his eyes and sigh. Say you hope the children will have his eyes, they’ll be dynamite.

But apparently the best answer to the question (besides the obvious) is to serve him Brazilian coffee.

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
