1959 – Party Pastries Recipe Book

From the Woman's Day Collectors Cook Book Series

Mid-century bakers looked forward to getting their monthly issue of Woman’s Day magazine where they might find a cook book cutout. This one is from the February 1959 issue. It is titled Collectors Cook Book #25 from the Woman’s Day Kitchen. The topic? Party Pastries!

They offered two types of Pastry recipes: Dessert and Hors-d’œuvres.

Dessert Pastries recipes included Coconut-Date Tarts, Walnut Crescents, and Peach Cream Tarts.
Hor D’Oeuvres recipes included Roquefort Pinwheels, Salty Parmesan Cubes, and Seeded Cheese Slices.

Woman’s Day continues to provide recipes to their readers. Of course today, there is no need to wait for the issue. It is just a matter of clicking and scrolling. Here’s a link to their collection of Dessert Recipes.

About Janet

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
