We continue our “28 Days of Love” series with an article written by Joan Benny, daughter of the late mid-century icon Jack Benny. It tells the story of the special love between a daughter and father.

The article titled “My Dad, Jack Benny” was published in the November 1963 edition of Good Housekeeping magazine.

For years–more than Daddy cares to count-people have laughed at his act. But I want to tell you why I love the man behind the makeup.

The comic was a bit before my time, but the name Jack Benny was still a household word in the 1960’s. At the time of the article, Jack was almost 70, and daughter Joan was 29. Joan worked as an actress, but was mainly known as the daughter of Jack Benny. She passed away last year.
