If you were a 1950’s kindergartener, you likely had a gingham dress of some kind. You possibly had one that your mother made you (like I did), or you bought one like the ones seen here from Mary Jane Dresses. These red & white gingham classics were featured in the May 1953 issue of Today’s Woman magazine in a fashion feature titled Candy Colors for Carnival Time. The dresses were made in sizes 1 through 6x and retailed for under $5.00.

About Janet

I'm an American baby boomer with a strange hobby. I collect mid-century women's magazines. My blog, MidCenturyPage.com is a result of a 20 year passion to scan the pages of these magazines and share them with anyone who wants to understand what mid-century women thought about, cared about, and worried about while living in the 1950's and 1960's
